I was looking at some of the pictures of Henry Hager and Jenna Bush’s wedding, and I started to wonder about what it must be like for Henry Hager.
What does it feel like when you realize that your wife’s father is the current POTUS and a former governor, her grandfather is a former POTUS, director of the CIA and war hero, and her uncle is the former governor of Florida?
Is your honeymoon locations limited by where the Secret Service will allow you to go?
How does it feel to know that your new father in law is going to be unemployed in a few months? Do you think they kept the wedding small to save money since the bride’s parents are going to be looking for work soon? Do you think Henry pulled George aside over the weekend and said “Hey, don’t worry. If things get tight, you can move in with us”?
And, if you get in a fight with your new bride, is it always in the back of your mind that her Dad actually approved having people tortured (at least according to the ACLU’s standards) in the past? Do you think that during the receiving line George leaned over to Henry and whispered in his ear “Take good care of her, or my friends in Egypt will have a talk with you.”?
Do you think that at Henry’s bachelor party, it was a Navy Seal that actually jumped out of the cake, guns drawn?
What about the fact that you’re wife’s paternal grandmother is probably the toughest one in the whole bunch, who could kick your ass without spilling her sherry?
Just wondering what it must be like waking up as Henry Hager this morning.
